On the monitored person's Apple Watch, the app reads the following from Apple Health, with their permission:
It also stores the first name and age entered during setup, so a family member knows whose readings they are looking at.
Readings are written to your own private iCloud database, using your Apple Account. They are shared only with the people you explicitly invite, and only for reading — an invited caregiver cannot change your records or invite anyone else.
The plain-English daily summary is produced entirely on your own device using Apple's on-device model. Nothing is sent to us or to any third party to generate it. Every figure in the summary is calculated arithmetically by the app, not written by the model.
Because your readings live in your own iCloud, you control them. Deleting the app removes its local copy; to remove the synced copy, turn off iCloud for ElderGuardian in Settings, or delete the container from your Apple Account's iCloud storage settings. Revoking a caregiver's invitation immediately ends their access.
ElderGuardian only ever requests read access to the Health types listed above, plus a short workout session used to keep the watch awake long enough to send an emergency alert. You can withdraw any of these at any time in the Health app.
